The House Wren is a common and widespread bird throughout the Americas, from Tierra del Fuego to Southern Canada.
House Wrens often puncture the eggs of other species occupying nestboxes within their territory, presumably to try and reduce competition for food resources. Occassionally they will breed in a usurped nestbox, but usually nest nearby.
